Privacy Summary at a Glance
- No Text Storage: We cannot see, read, log, or transmit what you type or paste into the counter.
- No Tracking Cookies: We do not set analytics cookies, third-party advertising pixels, or cross-site identifiers.
- No AI Model Training: Your intellectual property is never scraped or fed into LLM datasets.
- 100% Local Storage: Draft auto-saving operates strictly inside your personal device's browser cache.
Does X Character Counter Collect or Transmit Your Post Content?
No. When you paste or type characters into our tool, all string analysis, UTF-8 byte weighting, t.co URL deductions, and Unicode font transformations occur locally inside your client browser engine (V8, JavaScriptCore, or SpiderMonkey).
No HTTP POST requests, WebSocket messages, or telemetry beacons carrying your draft content are ever dispatched to our servers or third-party infrastructure.
How Does Local Draft Storage Work on Your Device?
To ensure you do not lose your work if your browser tab is refreshed or closed accidentally, the composer stores your latest draft in your browser's private window.localStorage under the key x_counter_draft.
This storage resides exclusively on your physical machine. You have complete control to wipe this data at any moment:
- Click the Clear button or press ⌘+K / Ctrl+K in the composer.
- Clear your browser's site data or cookies for
xcharactercounter.com.
Do We Use Cookies or Tracking Pixels?
No. We do not deploy Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Hotjar, or any invasive tracking scripts. We believe that developer utilities should prioritize privacy and performance above all else.
Because we do not deploy non-essential tracking cookies, there are no disruptive cookie banners required under the EU ePrivacy Directive and GDPR.
Edge Hosting & CDN Infrastructure
Our static application assets are served through Cloudflare Pages edge network. When your browser requests static HTML, CSS, or JavaScript files:
- Standard edge network logs (including IP address, browser user-agent, and requested asset path) may be processed temporarily by Cloudflare for DDoS mitigation, edge routing, and network security.
- These network logs are governed by Cloudflare's Privacy Policy and are not linked to your post drafting activities.
Your Rights Under GDPR, CCPA, and International Law
Under regulations including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
Because we do not collect personal identifiers, email addresses (unless you voluntarily contact us), or your draft content, we hold zero personal data about you to sell, share, or monetize.
If you send us an email inquiry, you have the right to request access to or deletion of that correspondence at any time by contacting our privacy desk.
